Our Core Principle: Human Led Archival Work
At our workshop, we believe that preserving historical audio requires genuine human listening, physical expertise, and mechanical precision.
Modern artificial intelligence tools have changed how data and digital media are processed, but when it comes to handling your irreplaceable tapes, we do not rely on generative AI, automated remixing or artificial ‘enhancement’ algorithms.
Every transfer that leaves our bench is monitored, calibrated and handled by an experienced audio engineer.
Where AI is NOT Used in Our Signal Chain
To maintain 100% signal purity and archival (and moral) integrity, we explicitly guarantee the following standards across all transfers.
• No generative audio reconstruction: We never use AI models to ‘ reinvent ‘, synthesise or artificially generate missing audio frequencies, instruments or voices.
• No unsolicited Stem Separation: We do not use automated AI extraction tools (such as AI demixing or source separation) to isolate vocals or instruments unless specifically requested for custom mixing projects.
• No Automated Mastering Algorithms: Your digital transfers and rough mixes are calibrated using real hardware meters, physical deck alignment and human critical listening, not one-click AI algorithms.
Where We Do Use Modern Digital Tools
While our audio capture and signal path remain strictly authentic to the physical media, we believe in complete transparency regarding where modern technology fits into our operations
• Website copy and content drafting: we used generative AI tools to help brainstorm, rewrite and structure portions of the text across this website. While AI assisted with formatting and drafting, every word on every page has been manually typed, proofread, subsequently retyped and formatted by a human, and every image and symbol used on the website has been taken by us or (in the case of the symbols) comes from the WordPress library.
That’s it; that’s all we use it for. For if AI can’t feel, how can it know what art truly is?
